Serious questions need to be raised as to why the Department of Transport's $28Million Groyne Reconfiguration has not delivered.
Our once pristine beaches are still plagued with thousands of tons of rotting seagrass wrack.
The DoT amended the document that defines the outcomes of the Groyne Reconfiguration the Environment Management
and Monitoring Program to allow up to 60,000m3 of seagrass wrack to remain trapped on the beaches all year round.
The whole purpose of the Groyne Reconfiguration was to resolve this issue but sadly that is not the case
and we are back to were we where 18 years ago except we have to now fight the DoT instead of the developer.
How could they have gotten it so wrong.
The City of Busselton has had to close the entire Port Geographe Western Beach due to it's unsafe nature.
